SANAA, Nov. 12 (YPA) – South Korean President Moon Jae-in and US President-elect Joe Biden had their first telephone conversation on Thursday morning.
A statement by Biden’s transition team said that Biden renewed the United States’ commitment to the defense of South Korea, pointing out that South Korea is the focus of security cooperation between the countries of the Pacific.
The US President-elect told South Korea that he will cooperate closely to solve common challenges, from North Korea to climate change, the statement added.
On Twitter, Moon said on Twitter that he congratulated Biden on winning the presidency and that they reaffirmed their commitment to the strong South Korea-US alliance, as well as to peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
Moon added that he will work closely with the president-elect to address global challenges including COVID-19 and climate change.
