Southern leader survives assassination attempt in Mukalla

HADHRAMAUT, Nov. 10 (YPA) – A leader of the Southern Revolutionary Movement has on Tuesday survived an assassination attempt in Hadhramaut province, local sources said.

According to the sources, unidentified gunmen opened fire at deputy chairman of the Youth Council of Ibn Sinai area in the area of Ash shahar, Hussein Saleh al-Kaldi, in the center of Al-Mukalla city. He was seriously injured.

In a statement, the Revolutionary Council accused the UAE-controlled security services of being behind the assassination attempt, referring to the “second military zone”.

Al-Kaldi was shot by an armed group and later beaten after stopping his car.

Hadhramaut province has witnessed widespread insecurity and large-scale assassinations of civilians, activists and military personnel.
