Somali minister survives assassination attempt in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Nov. 6 (YPA) – The Somali Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Dran Ahmed Farah on Thursday survived an assassination attempt by an explosion targeted his car in central Mogadishu, a source at the ministry said.

The source explained to the official Somali News Agency that “a landmine was placed next to the street, and targeted a car that was carrying the minister the moment it was passing at intersection No. 4.”

He added that the explosion wounded two people who were accompanying the minister, and they were taken to hospital.

No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing, but the finger of blame usually points to the “Youth Movement” fighters, which often claim such bombings.
