ADEN, Nov. 1 (YPA) – The Saudi-led coalition on Sunday on Sunday refused Hadi’s proposal to name Ahmed Al-Maisari as Minister of interior in the new government.
This move could stir up the conflict in the southern provinces due to the social and military weight of al-Maisari.
Diplomatic sources said that the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed al-Jaber, told Hadi that al-Maisari and al-Jabwani are excluded in the new composition, while the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) is not refusing Mohammed al-Maqdashi as defense minister.
Hadi’s share in the new government remains at odds as the coalition requires the STC approval to name its ministers.
Hadi retains the four sovereign portfolios, finance, interior and foreign affairs, but he cannot appoint any of these ministers without the STC’s approval.
These developments point to a new crisis over the formation of the new government.
