WHO records remarkable increase in corona cases around world

SANAA, Oct. 21 (YPA) – World Health Organization (WHO) recorded more than 2.4 million new cases of Coronavirus in the world during the past week, which represents a record high of cases on a weekly basis.
The World Health Organization stated, in a weekly report issued on Tuesday: “The number of new cases of COVID-19 infection continues to accelerate, while the new death toll is still relatively stable.”
The organization stated that the number of recorded infections with the virus in the world reached as of 18 October, according to available reports, 40118,333 cases, including 1114,749 deaths.
WHO indicated that, during the past week, 2443594 new cases of the disease and 3,6547 deaths were detected.
The largest increase was recorded from 12 to 18 October in Europe, where the organization confirmed the detection of 927,433 new infections, an increase of 25% compared to the outcome of the previous week, and the general number of cases there reached 8027,954.
While the North and South America is the first region in terms of the general number of injuries with 18800094, the weekly increase there decreased by 1% compared to the previous week’s toll, reaching 798,794 cases.
