Yemeni army breaks siege of Durayhimi city

HODEIDAH, Oct. 5 (YPA) – The Yemeni army forces and Popular Committees have dealt a new blow to the Saudi-led coalition forces, by countering their biggest military offensive in the West Coast front lines, through breaking the siege on al-Durayhimi.

This siege had been going on for two years until the recent Yemeni victory.

The accelerated field achievements of the Yemeni army forces and Popular Committees has reportedly caused a major shock to the coalition forces and the states supporting it.

According to the sources, the army forces have fought fierce battles against coalition forces and their mercenaries over the past three days.

The Yemeni forces furthermore foiled a large-scale offensive by the mercenary units led by Tariq Afash in the same area. The attack was carried out from all directions and also targeted the villages of Al-Kawei and Shajan in the district, during which coalition forces suffered heavy casualties, killing more than 30 soldiers and wounding 70.

Moreover, sixteen combat vehicles and military pickups belonging to the Saudi coalition were also destroyed during these failed attacks.

Coalition warplanes bombed areas north of Hodeidah on Sunday evening, in conjunction with a ground military escalation in the south, which is reprinted to have been the largest offensive of its kind since the Stockholm Agreement in December 2018.

According to local sources, the coalition warplanes launched raids on Jabal Melh between Al-Salif and Ras Essa districts in the western province.

For the past nearly two years, civilians in Durayhimi district have suffered from a terrible humanitarian catastrophe due to the suffocating siege imposed by the Saudi-led aggression coalition and its mercenaries
