Fierce clashes break out in Abyan

ABYAN, Oct. 5 (YPA) – Fierce fighting broke out between UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC ) militias and forces loyal to Hadi’s government in southern Yemen’s Abyan province, local sources reported on late Sunday.

Military and local sources said fierce fighting resumed between the two sides east of Zinjibar city, casualties have been reported.

The STC’s spokesman Mohammed al-Naeb said their troops’ positions east of Zinjibar were bombed by drone aircraft.

Multiple sources have said that forces loyal to the Islah party and Hadi’s government have obtained drones from Turkey.

Meanwhile, the STC’s activists said a Turkish drone aircraft bombed transitional forces positions near Zinjibar district.

Forces loyal to Hadi’s government have made a similar accusation against the STC to use drones, saying the UAE has provided the STC with drone aircraft.
