SANAA, Aug 20 (YPA) – Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its “Su-27” fighter had intercepted two American spy planes, which tried to approach Russia’s airspace over the Black Sea.
The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Russian surveillance means had detected two targets approaching Russian airspace over the waters of the Black Sea on Wednesday.
A Su-27 fighter belonging to the Air Defense Forces of the Russian Southern Military District took off to determine the identity of the two targets, and made sure that they were US RC-135 and P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance planes.
The Russian plane returned to its base after the two American planes changed course.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Russian fighter jet did not allow the Russian airspace to be violated, and that its flight was carried out according to all international aviation rules.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that a Russian fighter had intercepted an American spy plane over the Baltic Sea.
