UAE works to replace Yemeni telecom network in Socotra

SOCOTRA, Aug. 18 (YPA) – The UAE is working on replacing the Yemeni telecommunications network on Socotra Island and linking it to the Emirati telecommunications, informed sources told Yemen Press Agency on Tuesday.

The sources confirmed that technical teams the UAE, including foreigners, have been working for the past two days, under the pretext of improving the telecommunications network on the island.

At the end of last week, Israeli navy set up a military telecommunications network, after Emirati ships had transferred experts and advanced equipment from the Israeli Mamtam base to an isolated port established by the UAE in Socotra.
