United Nations adhered to separating evaluation works for Safer oil tanker: Yemen’s FM

SANAA, Aug. 15 (YPA) – Deputy of Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi pointed out that the United Nations had recently adhered to separating evaluation and maintenance work by sending a team for evaluation.

Al-Ezzi said that the UN insisted on the formal visit of the Safer vessel to submit a pre-prepared report that did not include the evaluation, stressing that Sanaa technical team made a number of observations regarding the evaluation and repair of the ship.

“We calls again to send a team of experts to carry out maintenance of the Safer ship to reduce happening the disaster, and we shock the UN response’s agenda, which was aimed at getting rid of the ship,” Deputy FM.

The Deputy FM stated that the United Nations withdrew from sending a team to the port of Hodeidah, as it was agreed upon, and it demanded to be relinquished and not be linked to the Safer ship despite Sanaa authorities issued visas to entire the UN team.

He affirmed that Sanaa addressed Sweden, Russia and China countries regarding the Safer ship, after noticing the international delay and slowdown in Safer maintenance, adding these countries responded, but required the participation of the United Nations.

Since the beginning of 2016, Sanaa has officially demanded the UN and the international community to maintenance and upkeep Safer, and neutralize its supplies from the siege imposed by the Saudi-led aggression coalition on Yemen, he added.

The Deputy FM addressed the US Secretary of State, saying that “you are attacking Sanaa regarding the Safer ship, and you are partners in killing the Yemeni people and destroying capabilities.”

He called on the Security Council to change its policy, to take into account the facts we presented towards Yemen, addition to opening its eyes to Sanaa and to provide an opportunity to hear its point of view.

Al-Ezzi demanded also the Security Council to respect the aspirations and options of the people and not be limited to obtaining information from one side, expressing the hope that it would take a decision to open the Sanaa airport and lift the restrictions on ships as a step to carry out the Sweden agreement.
