3 killed, 8 injured in assassination attempt on prominent official in Taiz

TAIZ, Aug. 12 (YPA) – At least three people were killed and eight others wounded on Wednesday when an explosive device went off in a military car in the areas under the control of Islah Party militias in Taiz province.

The explosive device exploded in a military patrol belonging to the leading member of the General People’s Congress Aref Jamel, undersecretary of the province in Hadi’s government, at al-Quba area in al-Ajinat Street, local sources explained.

The sources added that Jamel survived the assassination attempt, amid accusations against Islah elements that they are behind the attack.
