ADEN, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Protests widened on Tuesday as water crisis continued in the southern port city of Aden, local sources said.
According to the sources , the protests, which began on Monday in Crater with a demonstration on donkeys, were used to include Tawahi and al-Buegah
Angry protesters have cut off major and secondary roads in the city due to lack of water.
In return, the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council(STC)’s arrested the director of the Water Foundation Fathi Al-Saqqaf amid reports that he was going to stand trial.
Al-Saqqaf appeared in a video showing the cause of the water outage, in which he said was due to the power cuts to the facility.
According to the observers, al-Saqqaf’s arrest an attempt by the STC to control the protests. This comes as the new governor of Aden in the coalition-backed government sworn in .
