IEDs target military residence for US army in border area between Iraq, Kuwait

SANAA, Aug 11 (YPA) – Al-Mayadeen TV reported that a series of IEDs targeted a military residence for the US army in the border area between Iraq and Kuwait.

The target point is for the transit of logistical materials for the US Army.

Earlier, the Cave Owners Organization adopted the process of destroying American equipment and machinery at the Jerishan port on the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border.

In July, the Organization claimed responsibility for the destruction of a large logistical support convoy of the US army, along with its foreign security guards, in the Makishifa area of Salah al-Din Governorate.

Tribal sources told Al-Mayadeen at the time that an explosion targeted a logistical support convoy of the US army near the Mkishifa area in Salah al-Din Governorate.

Last month, the Washington-led coalition reduced its personnel in Iraq and turned their mission into an advisory group consisting of advisory teams from 13 member states of the coalition.

Under the amendments, military advisors will work with liaison officers in the Iraqi Operations Command in one central location in the capital, Baghdad, under the direction of Brigadier General “Ryan Reddout” of the US Navy.

In recent talks between Washington and Baghdad, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi said that the two countries affirm their “commitment to the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq.”

On January 5, the Iraqi parliament voted on a representative decision of 5 measures, including a demand for the Iraqi government to work to end the presence of any foreign forces on Iraqi soil, and forcing the government to cancel the request for assistance from the international coalition to fight ISIS.
