Parliament discusses report on crisis of oil derivatives

SANAA, July 11 (YPA) – The Yemeni Parliament discussed, in its session Saturday headed by Speaker Yahya Ali al-Ra’i, the report of the Development, Oil and Mineral Resources Committee on the ongoing crisis of oil derivatives and their high prices.

In the session, the House Speaker stressed the importance of integrated efforts of the legislative and executive authorities to reduce citizens’ suffering as a result of the continued aggression and the blockade.

Al-Ra’i indicated to the repercussions of the continued detention of fuel ships and the starvation policy practiced by Saudi-led aggression coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE against the Yemeni people, which compounds the scale of the humanitarian suffering of citizens.

In this regard, the House commissioned a joint committee from the Development and Oil Committee and the relevant authorities of the Ministry of Oil to visit the land crossings to ensure the status of the reserved locomotives and verify their conformity to specifications.

The Parliament’s members called on the Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC) to make more efforts to provide oil derivatives that meet the needs of the market and tighten control to ensure that these oil products reach all citizens and service establishments.

The House of Representatives listened to a clarification from the Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Daress and YPC’s director Ammar al-Adhraei about the continued detention of fuel ships and the quantities of oil derivatives available.

The Minister of Oil warned against the danger of the coalition tools’ try to sign oil contracts and agreements that affect national sovereignty and the interests of Yemenis.
