Military commander loyal to coalition survives assassination attempt in Marib

MARIB, July 11 (YPA) – A high-ranking military commander loyal to Saudi-led coalition survived an assassination attempt in Marib province, local source said.

According to the source, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded and targeted a military vehicle carrying the commander of the 141st Infantry Brigade .

The sources indicated that unknown gunmen planted an explosive device under the military vehicle of Colonel Ali Al-Shalif in Marib city.

The IED’s explosion left one of the commander’s bodyguards dead and destroyed the vehicle, the sources said.

This is the second time that Colonel Al-Shalif has survived assassination attempt. A month ago, he was betrayed by members of the brigade at a site south of Camp Mas in Marib.

Several members of the battalion were killed, while the fate of others remains unknown.

It is worth mentioning that the 141st Infantry Brigade belongs to the 6th Military region of Jawf province in the north of the country.
