Humanitarian Affairs Council investigates USAID’s suspicious actions

SANAA, July 7 (YPA) – The Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation on Tuesday said it will form a committee to investigate the US Agency for International Development (USAID)’s involvement in suspicious actions contradicting humanitarian actions in Yemen.

“The committee will be formed in cooperation with the competent authorities, and based on the investigation results the necessary legal measures will be taken towards the USAID and the other organizations and agencies that violate humanitarian principles in their relief activities and works in the Republic of Yemen,” the Council explained in a statement.

The Council indicated that it would address the USAID to ask for clarifications on the reasons for the presence of its logo on weapons recently found by the army and the popular committees on fronts of Marib and Bayda provinces and others.

The statement referred to the scenes displayed during the press briefing of the army spokesman, which prove the involvement of the US agency – operating in funding relief and humanitarian work – in providing a party to the war with weapons.

The Council expressed its deep regret at the involvement of the USAID in such suspicious actions that violate principles of humanitarian work, which he considered “a great crime.”
