Agricultural Cooperative Union condemns continued detention of fuel ships
SANAA, July 5 (YPA) – The Executive Office of the Agricultural Cooperative Union condemned on Saturday the continual detention of fuel ships by Saudi-led coalition, which has negatively affected the agricultural sector and farmers in general, and the other service sectors.
The Union and its branches in the province confirmed, in a statement, that the persistence of the coalition in preventing the entry of food, drug and petroleum products to the port of Hodeidah has doubled the suffering of Yemenis.
The statement considered this action a genocide against the Yemeni people, warning of a humanitarian catastrophe that has not been witnessed in recent history because of that, especially in the agricultural sector as it is one of the most important sources of food security.
The union referred to the damages resulting from the continued detention of oil derivatives vessels with regard to the production of agricultural crops that depend on irrigation water from wells.
The statement called on the Arab and international cooperative and agricultural unions and the General Union of Arab Farmers and Agricultural Cooperatives to work to stop the aggression, lift the siege on Yemen, allow entry of oil derivatives, and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
