Over 200,000 of Spain residents isolated due to Corona

MADRID, July 5 (YPA) – Spain again imposed isolation on more than 200,000 residents of the Catalonia region, after recording a significant increase in cases of infection with Corona virus (COVID-19) in a rural area and dozens of the virus infection focal spots.

On Saturday, Catalan President Quim Torra announced that, as of noon, the Lérida region, 150 kilometres west of Barcelona, had been isolated.

“We decided to isolate the Del Segria region (in the vicinity of Lérida city), based on a database confirming a significant increase in the number of cases of COVID-19,” Torra told reporters, speaking of “a difficult decision” for dozens of towns involved.

Torra stressed that, according to this decision, “neither the entry into this agricultural area nor the exit from will be allowed, at a time when a number of families have started the summer vacation with the onset of the harvest season.”
