2 earthquakes hit Japan, New Zealand

SANAA, June 25 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 5.9 degrees hit off the coast of Japan and another 5.5 degrees after a few hours in New Zealand, according to the American Institute of Geophysics.

The epicenter of the first earthquake was located at a depth of 25 km, 40 km from Chiba District in eastern Tokyo. No tsunami warning was issued.
For its part, the Japanese Meteorological Agency estimated the strength of the earthquake by 6.2 degrees and it said on its website that there is no danger of a tsunami.
Japanese media reported that the quake, which occurred at 4.47 local time (19:47 GMT), was felt in Tokyo’s suburbs.
Another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 struck the waters of the Pacific Ocean in southern Japan last week, without raising the threat of a tsunami.
