2 Turkish combat helicopters shot down northern Iraq

BAGHDAD, June 23 (YPA) – The Kurdish Popular Defense Forces and Free Women’s Units on Tuesday managed to down two Turkish helicopters of Cobra type, while countering Turkish forces’ advance towards Haftinin area in the legitimate defense areas, northern Iraq.

The Popular Defense forces of Kurdistan Workers Party said, in a statement, that “Guerrilla fighters” repelled an attempt by the Turkish occupation army to advance in Haftanin side, adding that two combat helicopters were shot down.

The statement confirmed that six Turkish soldiers were killed during the clashes.
