Saudi media incite Egypt’s President to intervene in Libya

SANAA, June 22 (YPA) – Saudi media continue to incite Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to intervene in Libya to save their ally General Khalifa Hifter, who could not control the Libyan capital, Tripoli, the “New Gulf” website said Monday.

This came after a speech by the Egyptian President on Saturday after inspecting units of the Air Force in Matrouh Governorate, in which he said addressing the army: “Be prepared to carry out any mission here within our borders, or if necessary outside our borders.”

In one of its inflammatory texts, the Saudi newspaper Okaz described the position of El-Sisi on the Libyan crisis as “firm” towards what it called “Turkey’s project to revive the caliphate in Libya.”

The Saudi newspaper claimed that “the Egyptian genie blew up the illusions of the Turkish invaders, which not only target Libya but also target the Arab region as a whole under a Muslim Brotherhood umbrella”, sending direct warning messages to the Turkish regime.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi position came in line with the Egyptian position when the statement of the Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed that Egypt’s security is an integral part of the security of the kingdom and the entire Arab nation, stressing that the Kingdom stands beside Egypt in its right to defend its borders and people.

For its part, “Al-Eqtisadiah” newspaper claimed that “Turkey, and behind it the Muslim Brotherhood, tampered with Arab countries, in the hope of reviving the glories of the Ottoman caliphate, which had perched on the chest of Arabs for about 400 years.”

The newspaper claimed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “moved towards Libya by denying the will of the Libyan people to control the Al-Wefaq government headed by Fayez al-Sarraj, through which it established naval and air military bases, with the aim of controlling Libyan wealth.”
