2 soldiers killed in drive-by shooting in Taiz

TAIZ, May 9 (YPA) – Two soldiers were assassinated on Wednesday evening in a drive-by shooting in the north of Taiz city, according to local sources.

Zakaria al-Hatri and Mohammed Mahyoub were killed when an unidentified gunman riding a motorcycle opened fire on them near Bir Basha crossroads in west of the city, the sources said.

Two days before, gunmen assassinated Azam al-Mekhlafi, a member of military police in Tahrir Street in the city .

This came at a time Taiz city is witnessing a security chaos and military conflicts between militias of Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood) and groups of the Salafist leader “Abu al-Abbas” loyal to the UAE forces in the city.
