SANAA,June 17 (YPA) – The Afghan army announced on Wednesday that its forces had killed an important member of the Taliban movement, which is one of the prominent members of the movement’s red unit, during an operation in the central province of Wardak.
The army said in a statement that Taliban militants attacked security sites in the “Galeriz” region in the “Wardak” province.
The statement added that the security forces responded forcefully to the attack and killed a Taliban gunman, while two others were wounded.
“The Taliban gunmen lost one of the prominent members of the movement,” Qari Zalmay Elias Ansar, “who was responsible for making the bombs that are being planted alongside the roads, as he is one of the prominent members of the Red Unit,” the statement said.
