40 soldiers of Malian army disappeared on border with Mauritania

SANAA, June 16 (YPA) – Mali announced that about 40 soldiers had disappeared, after they fell in an ambush in the state of “Diabali”, where only three of them returned and joined Goma Koura camp.
Radio France International quoted an official source as saying that “12 small vehicles belonging to the Malian army forces were on patrol, which was attacked north of Bamako towards the border with Mauritania.”

The source, who was not named by the radio, added that the Malian Air Force “has been searching for the missing since Sunday.”

According to the Mauritanian News Agency, the United Nations Mission in Mali announced on Sunday the killing of two of its forces in an attack north of the country, which was carried out by gunmen on Saturday.

The UN mission added in a statement issued by it that “a logistical convoy of Menesma was attacked around 7 pm on Saturday, between the Tasalit and Gao regions.”
