Hadramout governor of Hadi’s govt escapes assassination

HADRAMOUT, June 13 (YPA) – Governor of Hadramout province, appointed by Hadi’s government,  Faraj al-Bahsani survived an assassination attempt by a roadside bomb on Saturday.

Spokesman for the so-called “the Second Military Region”, Hisham al-Jabri, said that engineering teams had dismantled an improvised explosive device planted on the main road leading to the military region’s headquarters in Khalaf area of Mukala city, the capital of the province.

Al-Jabri explained that the explosive device was intended for remotely detonation in order to target the governor while heading to the military region’s headquarters.

“The assassination attempt aims to disturb the security file in general and to destabilize security and stability in the city, and the coast of Hadramout in general,” he added.

In last May, the local authorities in Hadramout revealed an attempt to assassinate al-Bahsani by a number of people working in the province’s office, while security sources accused the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council of being behind the assassination attempt.
