SANAA, June 13 (YPA) – One person was killed and 11 others were injured when an explosion occurred in a market in Rawalpindi district in Punjab province in eastern Pakistan.
The Xinhua news agency quoted Pakistani police as saying on Saturday that an improvised explosive device exploded inside the market located in a gathering area in Rawalpindi, on Friday evening.
The police added that the blast killed a street vendor and injured 11 others, including sellers and passers-by and were taken to a nearby hospital, where their condition was described as stable.
According to preliminary investigations, the package was placed in a motorcycle that was parked at the side of the road by unknown gunmen who had fled the scene after leaving the market.
The police arrived at the site and cordoned off to investigate the accident, while the media was banned from entering the area, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
