SHABWA, June 11 (YPA) – At least two people were killed and five others injured on Thursday in armed clashes between militants of Islah Party and tribes of Jardan district in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.
Islah militants aboard a number of military vehicles assaulted a peaceful march in Jardan, during which exchanges of fire took place with tribal gunmen, according to local sources.
The sources explained that the clashes led to the killing of one of Al Dhabab al-Hilali tribe members and one of the Islah militants, and the wounding of five others, who were transferred to the city of Ataq, the provincial capital.
Jardan tribes imposed a suffocating siege on the Islah militants and seized eight of vehicles with all their equipment, the sources added.
The sources noted to the tense military situation between the tribes and the Islah militants, especially after tribesmen from Al Dhabab and Jardan tribes flocked to Shaq Bin Dhabab area and cut the main road linking between the Jardan district and Ataq city.
