5.7 measuring earthquake hits eastern Indonesia

SANAA, June 10 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday province of Bengkulu, in western Indonesia.

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said the tremor occurred on Wednesday morning at 11 am Jakarta time (0435 GMT), and its surface center was 28 km southwest of the Mukumuko region, and at a depth of 24 km below the sea floor, indicating the possibility of high tidal waves (tsunami).

It is reported that Indonesia is often vulnerable to earthquakes and earthquakes, due to its occurrence in the “ring of fire in the Pacific”.
