MSF: Saudi-led coalition air strikes killed, maimed dozens of civilians

SANAA, May 8 (YPA) – Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said on Tuesday that air strikes launched by Saudi-led coalition warplanes on Sanaa on Monday killed and maimed dozens of civilians, including children.

In a statement obtained by Yemen Press Agency, the organization indicated that the hospitals operating in Sana’a, supported by MSF, received at least 72 wounded and 6 dead.

“No-one should live in fear of being bombed while going about their daily life, yet again we are seeing civilian victims of airstrikes fighting for their lives in hospitals,” João Martins, MSF head of mission in Yemen said.

“Some of the wounded arrived by ambulance, others arrived by motorcycle,” An MSF medical team Dr. Abdulfatah Al-Alimi said.

“Some of the patients were suffering from head trauma. Others had shrapnel wounds in their legs”, he added.

On Monday morning, the Saudi-led coalition warplanes waged to powerful air strikes on the busiest street in the heart of Sana’a, Yemen.

The airstrikes targeted the Yemeni presidential office, which is located near a hotel, pharmacies, a bank, and shops, killing and injuring 78 people.
