HADHRAMAUT, May 20 (YPA) – A new battalion announced its military rebellion against the leadership of the first military region, which is loyal to the Islah party in Hadhramaut province, local sources said on Tuesday.
According to local sources in the province, the so-called Hadhrama battalion rejected the orders of the military leadership to move to fight alongside the al-Islah militants in Abyan province, southern Yemen.
The sources said that the staff of the first military region commander of the 135th Brigade, Yahya Abu Awaja, had issued military directives during a meeting held yesterday for the leaders of the region to send military reinforcements to Shoqra coastal city.
The sources pointed out that the military leaders loyal to al-Islah in Sieyoun, the “armed militias” or any combat units opposed to them in the valley and desert directorates, vowed to hit with an iron hand, referring to the UAE-backed militias.
