STC launches attacks against Islah militants in Abyan

ABYAN, May 14 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia launched an offensive in which they were able recapture a number of military positions in the areas of al-Sabyat and al-Tariya, northeast of Zinjibar city of Abyan province, local source said on late Wednesday.

According to the sources, the STC militias have set several ambushes against the Islah militants, during which they inflicted heavy losses on the ranks of al-Islah militants.

Moreover, the STC has sent military reinforcements to Abyan province.

The reinforcement were sent from Lahj and Aden provinces due to their defeating and losing several military sites and camps in battles with Islah party’s militias.

On the other Hand, a statement issued by the military leadership of the “Al-Islah Party”, earlier Wednesday, confirmed that al-Islah militants destroyed more than 12 tanks,  16 armored vehicles, and dozens of military pickups belonging to the STC, during the past 48 hours in Abyan.
