Several pro-Islah officers abducted in Hadhramaut

HADHRAMAUT, May 6 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC ) militias abducted several officers and soldiers loyal to the Islah party in Hadhramaut province, local sources said.

According to the Local sources, the pro-Emirati governor of Hadhramaut, Faraj al-Bahsani, directed the “Hadhramaut elite militias ” to arrest officers of Barshed Brigade, which is stationed west of the city of Mukalla, after uncovering what he called “plots against Hadhramaut”.

The sources explained that the Islah in Shabwah, pushed military reinforcements from the 2nd Infantry Brigade, based in Azan, to the border between Shabwah and Hadhramout provinces, after al-Bahsani militants deployed the second military zone extensively in Hadhramaut.

This comes following the STC’s demands for the governor of Hadramaut to declare self-rule and the formation of committees to oversee the province’s resources. But this was rejected by all forces to separate the province from Aden financially and administratively.

Al-Bahsani called on Hadhramaut’s sons to take responsibility and prevent their children from participating in demonstrations led by the STC in Mukalla, under the pretext of demanding better electricity, health and other services.
