PM discusses with Head of ICRC delegation support for health sector

SANAA, May 4 (YPA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor on Monday discussed with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation to Yemen Franz Rauchenstein the health and humanitarian activities and programs of the committee in Yemen.

The meeting focused on the precautionary efforts made by the various ministries and the concerned authorities at the central and local levels to implement the preventive measures to confront Corona epidemic.

The meeting touched on the responsibility of the ICRC and relevant UN and international organizations to support the health sector and its processing, laboratory and technical capabilities to effectively address any emergency, especially in light of recording cases of this epidemic in a number of the occupied provinces and areas.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the ICRC’s role in supporting the Yemeni people over the past decades up to date, calling for enhancing the Committee’s role by considering the developments related to the epidemic.

Head of the ICRC’s delegation in Yemen confirmed the committee would continue to support the health sector and provide medical materials to hospitals and health centers through the Ministry of Public Health and Population.
