Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs meets ICRC delegation

SANAA, April 28 (YPA) – Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation Abdul Mohsen Tawoos met on Tuesday with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s delegation in Yemen, Franz Rauchenstein.

At the meeting, Tawoos stressed the importance of the role played by the international organizations in providing a rapid response to alleviate the suffering of citizens in many areas in Yemen that affected due to floods as a result of heavy rains, which caused damage to houses and infrastructure.

Tawoos said, “The society’s view towards the organizations will be negative if they slow down to provide services in emergency circumstances to ease the suffering of the citizens in those areas.”

The Secretary-General of the Humanitarian Affairs Council reaffirmed the Council’s readiness to provide the necessary facilities and overcome difficulties and challenges that face the mission and its team.

Rauchenstein emphasized the ICRC delegation’s keenness to provide possible support to the Yemeni people and alleviate its human suffering in light of the current situation.
