UN meets on decision on Corona vaccines
SANAA, April 21 (YPA) – The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted its 193 members, on Tuesday, a resolution demanding fair access to the future vaccines for the Corona virus, which causes the “Covid-19” disease.
Mexico made the decision, which received support from the United States of America, and calls for strengthening international scientific cooperation to combat “Covid-19”, and to intensify coordination, including with the private sector.
The resolution calls on the United Nations Secretary-General to ensure that the allocated resources ensure fair, transparent, equitable, efficient and effective access in a timely manner to preventive tools, laboratory tests, drugs and future vaccines for the Coruna virus, according to Agence France-Presse.
The resolution stresses the importance of making all of the above available to all those in need, especially developing countries.
On Saturday, April 18th, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for the creation of an international coalition to develop a vaccine against the emerging Corona virus.
“We need a global alliance to develop a vaccine against Covid-19 that should be available to everyone and everywhere,” he wrote on Twitter.
