Socotra witnesses third military rebellion against Hadi’s govt

SOCOTRA, April 14 (YPA) – Three military battalions of the 1st Marine Infantry Brigade announced on Tuesday their rebellion against Hadi’s government on Socotra Island, in the first reaction to the arrests recently carried out by Islah Party on the island.

Military sources in the island confirmed that the Tank Battalion, the Air Defense Battalion and the Military Police Battalion announced their joining the “Southern Transitional Council” militias loyal to the UAE.

The sources pointed out that the military leader Nasser Qais led the largest rebellion, after a number of security leaders were arrested last week by the Islah party in the island.

The military rebellion came after the UAE-backed militia attempted to assassinate the governor of Socotra in Hadi’s government Ramzi Mahrous last week.

This rebellion in the 1st Marine Infantry Brigade is considered the third one, after the rebellion of the 3rd Battalion and the Coast Guard Battalion last February.
