Syria extends closure of schools, universities amid coronavirus spread

SANAA, April 12 (YPA) – Syrian government has decided to extend the suspension of school and university activities in the country until 2nd of next month.

The government’s team on the strategy to address the new Coronavirus epidemic in Syria called for a tightening of the ban imposed in all areas to restrict movement and limit gatherings that would adversely affect public safety.

The government team also agreed in principle to provide a “downtime allowance” to each day and seasonal worker and self-employed workers whose work was suspended as a result of precautionary measures.

For its part, the Syrian Ministry of Health reported six new cases of coronavirus, bringing the number of cases recorded in the country to 25.
