4.7 magnitude earthquake hits Turkish-Iranian border region
SANAA, April 12 (YPA) – Iran was struck by a 4.7-magnitude earthquake in Khoy on Sunday, West Azerbaijan Province, close to the Turkish border.
The Anatolian Turkish Agency quoted the Presidency of Disaster and Emergency Management in Ankara that the earthquake was recorded at 5.23 local time (00:53 GMT) at a depth of 6.75 km.
There were no reports of human or property damage.
Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, with earthquakes occurring often and being devastating.
