Twitter CEO vows to donate $ 1 billion to fight Coronavirus

WASHINGTON, April 8 (YPA) – Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has pledged that he will donate $ 1 billion of his stake in Square Payments company, which he co-founded and heads, to relief programs related to the Corona pandemic.

Dorsey said in a series of tweets on Twitter that the amount represents about 28% of his personal wealth, and that he will donate it to the charity fund “Start Small” that he established, which will focus its attention later on the global basic income and the health and education of girls.

“All donations to and from the fund will be announced to the public through a public document,” he added. “I hope this inspires others to do something similar.”

Dorsey has been keen for years not to announce the details of his charitable work.

Forbes magazine estimated Dorsey’s net wealth at about $ 3.3 billion.

The United States has recorded more than 400,000 cases of Coronavirus, while the number of deaths rose to nearly 13,000.
