5 Indian soldiers, 5 militants killed in clashes in Kashmir

SANAA, April 6 (YPA) – The Indian Army announced on Monday the killing of five soldiers and five militants who tried to enter the country through the border area between Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian newspaper “India Today” quoted Colonel Radjash Kalya, who said: “During a continuous operation in the Kiran sector, north of Jammu and Kashmir, infantry forces killed five militants who tried to infiltrate across the Line of Control.”

The spokesman referred to the killing of five Indian soldiers during this operation, one of whom was killed during the clashes and four others who received serious wounds, who later died. He explained that the process is continuing.

Tensions are escalating between India and Pakistan, the two nuclear-armed states, and there has been intermittent cross-border shooting since August 5, when India deployed its forces heavily in Indian Kashmir to quell unrest after its decision to abolish the province’s autonomy.
