UAE retaliates against residents of Socotra

SOCOTRA, March 23 (YPA) – The UAE company “Dexim Power” has carried out collective punishment of Socotra Island residents.

According to local sources, the Emirati company working in the field of energy cut off the electrical power from the city of Hadibu on Saturday, in a new attempt to blackmail the people of the city.

The sources said that the Emirati company imposed a sum of 100 thousand riyals, as subscription fees for citizens, after its announcement in September 2019 of providing free electricity to the people of the island.

The UAE occupation has worked to disable Socotra’s government electricity company, and used the main power lines for the benefit of the Emirati company.
