107 lawmakers of Congress reject the “Trump deal”
SANAA, Feb. 8 (YPA) – 107 of the US Congressional Democrats voted against the US Middle East peace plan “Deal of the Century” on Friday.
In a statement, the 107 Democrats affirmed that the “Deal of the Century” paves the way for renewed violence between the two parties, the Palestinian and Israeli, and calls for instability in Jordan, at a time when peace agreements between Israel, Egypt and Jordan are at risk.
On January 28, US President Donald Trump announced his plan to settle the Palestinian-Israeli issue, known as the “Deal of the Century”, in the presence of senior officials of his administration and the head of the Israeli caretaker government, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The “Deal of the Century” stipulates the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with Jerusalem remaining as a “unified” capital for Israel, and the allocation of parts of the eastern side of the city to the Palestinian capital, in addition to Israel’s sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and settlements in the West Bank, which was rejected by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Stressing that his people insist on recognizing the state of Palestine within the borders of 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital.
