Industry Ministry studying 28 patent applications

SANAA, April 29 (YPA) – Director of Patents and Industrial Designs at Ministry of Industry and Trade, Abdulbaset al-Bakri on Sunday said the number of applications for a patent reached 28 last year.

In a statement to Yemen Press Agency, al-Bakri said among those applications were 15 Yemeni and 13 foreign applications.

Al-Bakri pointed out that the process of research and investigation and study of the application lasts from 12 to 18 months at a minimum, while in other countries, the process up to three years.

The ministry’s role is limited to the administrative procedures represented in registering and granting patents in addition to awareness and education in this aspect, he added.
