Feature: Saudi-led airstrikes destroys important historical monuments in Sanaa

SANAA, April 29 (YPA) – The Saudi-led airstrikes destroyed, during three eears of war in Yemen, several historical monuments in the province of Sanaa, director of the office of antiquities and museums in Sana province, Abdul Hamid Hunish said.

“The airstrikes destroyed partially Hamra Mosque in Sanhan district, which dates back to the year 211 AH,” he said.

The religious and historical shrine of Imam al-Sanani, which is located inside the mosque, was also destroyed by the airstrikes, Hunish added.

The Saudi-led air raids targeted Babgan Castle in Tial district, and the historic Mosque of Prophet Shuaib situated in the highest mountain of Shuaib Prophet, which dates back to 388 AH.

“The historical fortress of Bait Bous built by Hariri Kin in eighth century BC, was also damaged by the airstrikes,” Hunish stated.

Fortifications of Bouan and Abu Louhum were hit by the coalition jet fighters, which led to their destruction in part.

“Earlier this Year, historic fortress of Masar in Manankhah disrict, which dates back to the year 5 AH, was also destroyed by Saudi-led airstrikes.” Hunish added.
