US plans to evacuate its citizens from Chinese Wuhan

SANAA, Jan. 25 (YPA) – The United States plans to organize a flight on Sunday to evacuate its citizens and diplomats from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak of the new Coronavirus.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, quoting an informed source, that a plane carrying about 230 people from the US consulate’s diplomats, as well as American citizens and their families, will be on board.

The newspaper said that Washington obtained approval from the Chinese Foreign Ministry and other government agencies to carry out the evacuation after negotiations in recent days.

The newspaper added that the United States is also planning to temporarily close its consulate in Wuhan.

China declared on Saturday a maximum state of emergency in 25 provinces due to the Corona virus, in light of the high number of deaths and infections.
