France to send 220 soldiers to West Africa
SANAA, Jan. 14 (YPA) – French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that France will send 220 additional soldiers to West Africa, after agreeing to establish a joint command structure with countries in the region to fight the growing insurgency in the region.
“We have no choice and we need results,” Macron added after a summit with the leaders of Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Chad.
France already has 4,500 soldiers in the region claiming to fight so-called terrorism, and, as Washington does in the Arab region, the presence of French forces has contributed to the increase in the expansion of Takfiri groups and their operations against civilians in exchange for an increase in foreign forces that come to protect their interests only.
