2 rockets hit Baghdad’s Green Zone near US Embassy

SANAA, Jan. 9 (YPA) – Two rockets fell on Wednesday evening inside the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, where the US embassy and other headquarters are located, according to an Iraqi security source.

Iraqi security media affiliated with the Prime Minister said “two Katyusha rockets falling inside the Green Zone without any casualties.”
The Iraqi security media added that one of the rockets landed in a street near the American embassy, while the other landed away from the embassy building.

The sound of the two explosions was heard in the center of the capital, followed by the sound of sirens in the Green Zone.

Witnesses reported that the two explosions were the strongest in a series of attacks on the Green Zone.
