Security Council holds emergency session to discuss Haftar’s crimes in Tripoli
SANAA, Jan. 6 (YPA) – The UN Security Council agreed to hold a closed emergency session on Monday to discuss Haftar’s attacks on the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Al-Wefaq government said it had called on the Council to take a firm stand against the aggression against Tripoli.
On Saturday evening, an aircraft supporting the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter, targeted the headquarters of the Military College in Tripoli, killed thirty students.
The Foreign Ministry condemned, earlier on Sunday, this bombing, and called on the international community to take immediate and urgent intervention to deter aggression and protect innocent civilians.
The Foreign Ministry added, in a statement, that Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala directed the Libyan mission in New York to request an emergency session of the Security Council, against the backdrop of war crimes committed by the Haftar militia.
The Libyan Foreign Ministry called on the international community to assume its responsibilities, and to bring Haftar and those with him to the International Criminal Court, on charges of crimes against humanity.
