Sudanese leader demands withdrawal of his country’s troops from Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 4 (YPA) – Mohammed Yusuf, a leader of the Sudanese Professionals Association”, called for the withdrawal of his country’s forces from Yemen, after news stated the reducing of the forces to 10,000 troops.

“All the forces there must be returned once and for all because it is not in the interests of Yemen, Sudan or the entire Arab region, to fight each other as Arabs if there is even little chance of resolving problems and differences through negotiation and dialogue, he said.

“The Sudanese people do not know why our forces went to Yemen, because there is no declared agreement, we woke up after the revolution and we found that we have forces fighting in Yemen. We didn’t know anything about when they left the country or the terms of the agreement that was sent,” he added.

Since August 21, Sudan has been experiencing a 39-month transition period that ends with elections.

Power shared by both the military council and the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change, the leader of the popular movement.

A constitutional document, signed on August 17, prohibits the participation of the party of ousted President Omar al-Bashir’s party, in Sudan’s political life throughout the 39-month transition period.
