WASHINGTON, Jan. 4 (YPA) – The US Department of State on Saturday announced decisive measures have been taken to protect its facilities from an imminent attack by Iran.
This comes as an expected response to the killing of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ commander Qassem Soleimani by a US air raid targeting his convoy near Baghdad airport.
Erica Chiusano, a US State Department spokeswoman, revealed that Washington had taken “decisive measures” to protect its facilities from an “imminent attack” by Iran or its allies in the region.
“Protecting the interests of the United States and its allies in the region is a priority for us,” Chiusano said.
The spokeswoman indicated that the US strategy towards Tehran “will not change”, stressing: “We are still imposing the most severe sanctions on Iran.”
She added that Germany and Britain agree with the United States that “Iran constitutes a threat” to the region.
